In My White Tee

So, it’s September and as much as I want to get on to the whole “Yay! It’s almost fall!” bandwagon—I can’t. It’s still a whopping 95 degrees here in Texas and when I start seeing things like scarves and boots in store windows and the winner, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice lattes—I just want to run to the nearest Bahama Mama’s and scarf down a cold Pineapple/Mango/Tamarind snow cone. Mmmmm….tamarind…

With that, I’m still living in Ts and shorts, with no intent of letting them go until maybe a severe snow storm it the temps drop down to 60 (let’s face it, this is considered “cold” in Houston). Initially, I wasn’t too keen on the whole “cheeky” shorts style—the ones that are cut at an angle. I figured they were made for girls with long legs and if I were to wear them it’d just be weird and ill-fitting on me. However, when I found these on super sale at Urban Outfitters ($10), I thought I’d just give it a go.

I have to say, I kind of really like the cut. For me, they are like high-waisted shorts in that they kind of make me feel that my legs are bit longer than what they really are. I feel less stumpy in them especially when I pair them with low heels. (I am only 5’3” so when I find something that makes me feel taller, I’m all about it). Plus, when paired with the right pieces (basic white T and black blazer), it makes a really easy-going yet dressed up outfit (almost sexy…almost). Since it’s still hot here, restaurants and bars crank up the A/C, that’s where the blazer comes in. I’ve always found that when September/October rolls around, I tend to start adding blazers to my shorts and top outfits. I guess that’s the best I can do down here when trying to embrace the fall season.

Now, have you guys ever picked up something and roamed around the store with it, asking yourself Should I buy it? Shout I not? Do I really need it? How many times am I going to wear it? After a lot of back and forth, putting it down and picking it back up, you decide to buy it with the intent of returning it? Then you find yourself, wearing it over and over and over again…to the point that it’s practically glued to you? Yeah, that’s the story behind these nude/silver strap wedges. I haven’t been able to pry my feet out of them as they seem to go with everything. Plus, I can walk in them. (Finally a pair of heels that I don’t freak me out!)

I do apologize for not having posted anything in a couple of weeks. I’ve been swamped and put the blog on the back burner. However, I have returned and will start regularly posting on Mondays again. Have a great week!

    • Thanks! Not much has been going on – trying to keep up with this blog, working and hiding from the heat. How are you? Did you enjoy TXSC this year? I had to miss it b/c I was going out of town, but it sounded awesome!

  1. The weather has been so unpredictable in the midwest as well! Love the outfit and those cutoffs. You look great.

Hope you are having a great day. Drop by my blog when you get a chance.

    • Thanks so much for stopping by and reading! The weather has been getting on my nerves – I don’t really want summer to end but then I do so I can wear booties and not feel stupid doing so! Hope to see you here again.
