I don’t know what you guys are thinking here but I’m thinking I look like a character straight out of a Dr. Seuss book. Something about the colors, the dress, the hair style – everything just screams Dr. Seuss! Which is actually kind of fitting since I wore it to a Baby’s 1st Birthday Party, so I could have gotten away with being the entertainment. (For the sake of the baby and everyone – I did not perform).
I was actually in a bit of tizzy while trying to style this dress. When I first bought it, I knew it was big around the waist area but I figured I’d just cinch it with a belt. I tried it on with multiple belts including a black skinny patent one, a wider black/crème straw belt, and a caramel colored belt. Nothing really worked so I was forced to pass on the belt.
Then I tried on a bunch of different necklaces – black, gold, silver, long, short, chunky – nothing. This necklace was my last option but I really liked how the geometric shapes and white make the necklace stand out against all the colors in the dress.
It just proves to show that you may have one image in mind but when it comes to actually executing it, it can be an epic fail and you’ll have to try other options. Once again, keep an open-mind and try on things even if it takes some time. In the end, if it just isn’t working – return it or save it until you do have the right accessories to wear with it. Black tights, gray booties and a gray bag add a muted but completed look to the overall outfit.
