A LONG time ago I thought it’d be really cute to wear shorts, a long-sleeved sweater and closed-toe booties to a party – in the middle of winter. I ended up feeling quite stupid because it just didn’t make sense as to why I was wearing shorts with bare legs when I was trying so hard to cover up the rest of body. After that, I never really ventured into the whole shorts/open-toe shoes thing in the winter (yes, I am not always a risk-taker).
Five years later, we had a 70 degree day during the winter, so I guess it’s just time for me to come to terms with the fact that the El Niño Effect is real and he’s telling me that it’s okay to wear shorts in the winter.
Not only that, throwing on tights kind of makes you feel less stupid…well it made me feel less stupid so I gave it my seal of approval. I promise for here on out I won’t hate on anyone who wears shorts or mini-skirts with bare legs in the winter nor will I feel bad about doing it.
I’ve been wanting to wear this outfit for quite some time now as it’s been stewing in my head for a couple of months but I’ve never gotten a chance to put it on and see how it looks. I actually like it a lot – as it combines a few of my favorite things – a structured blazer, a bow-tie top, and shorts. I haven’t had a chance to wear it out just yet but I have worn it in two different variations to work:
I do plan on wearing it in the near future and not flouncing around in it at my house!
I was planning on posting a really cool DIY project on Thursday that I’ve been attempting to try for the last few weeks. I’m not even going to bother telling you what it was because it turned into a complete and utter disaster. It was so bad that I completely forgot about it and left it out last night in the thunderstorm and it’s still out there. I guess this wasn’t as awesome as the outfit concept I had. I’ll definitely try and come up with something to post on Thursday though!
