Have you ever had one of those weeks where nothing you do seems to be right or fulfilling? All you want is for the week to end, the weekend to come and a fresh new week to start so you can have a clearer mind. I seem to be having one of these “off” weeks where I’ve take care of every item on my daily to-do list but at the end of the day I still feel a bit unaccomplished, as if I should have done more.
I’m not usually like this as I love the feeling I get when I cross something off my list. I even agreed to clean out our refrigerator on a week night (something I normally do over the weekend) to feel a bit better about the week. I was also having major writer’s block even though I had written an entire post – in the end, I thought it was stupid and deleted it.
I know we all feel frustrated with ourselves every now and then and it’s probably because of the expectations we set out for ourselves. With Diwali (Indian New Year) being celebrated this week I decided to finally take a step back from being so hard on myself and just let things be. Some weeks we’ll do so much that at the end of the day, even though we’re exhausted we feel like we accomplished something and I think other weeks are just meant to be a bit laid back and there’s no shame in that. It’s hard not to want more and more from ourselves every day but if we don’t take a moment to unwind we’ll end up burning out.
I think this week I’m just going to take a little bit easy – do what I need to but really enjoy our new year. For me this is helping Ameeta make her awesome Halloween cupcakes, eating my Mom’s food, cleaning, and watching a lot of TV. I have a feeling I’ll be back to my normal self next week.
Thankfully, Ameeta and I shot these pictures a couple of weeks ago so I had something to post this week. She loves props so naturally wanted to use this one; which I think is a bit fitting to how I feel this week. I wore this outfit to an event I volunteered at earlier this year and its probably one of the most comfortable dressed-up outfits I’ve worn and its perfect for cooler nights
Hope everyone has a Happy Diwali (if you’re celebrating it) and a fantastic Halloween!
