I can’t believe this is the last week of June! If you’re like me, you’ll have just realized that this means half the year is already gone! It also reminds me that I need to take a look at my New Year’s Resolutions to see how far I’ve come – hopefully I’ve accomplished at least half of what I’ve set out to do this year – if not, I’ve got a busy last 6 months!
To kick-off the upcoming 4th of July weekend – I thought it would be fun to put together a red, white and blue outfit.
I know I spout about color and being open to new ideas all the time but to be honest with you, red has never been one of favorite colors. I recently started opening up to the idea of it and purchased a few items – ballet flats, a skirt, a dress and a striped top (because I can never get enough of stripes).
I’m especially fond of these ballet flats, also seen here. I think they add just a nice pop of color to any outfit and when I click my heels I’m thankfully not taken to Kansas; though I wish I had a dog name Toto and yes the movie, The Wizard of Oz creeps me out.
Like I’ve said before, if you’re uncomfortable with wearing too much color or a particular color try and buy an accessory in that hue instead of a piece of clothing; pair it with different looks and then see if you like or dislike it. That’s how I experimented with red and even though it’s not my first choice of color, I’ve definitely warmed up to it.
